ChildNet, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit community-based care (CBC) agency servicing Broward and Palm Beach County. We are contracted with the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families, to provide case management support to abused, abandoned, and neglected children. ChildNet is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and employs over 450 staff at its location in Ft Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Florida.

Job Summary: This position directs the day-to day operations of the Reunification Unit to ensure established outcome measures, service and quality standards are met, exceeded and maintained.

Responsibilities: Supervises the Child Advocate –Reunification in dealing with challenges and barriers using their knowledge of ChildNet’s System of Care, Policies and Procedures and state and federal mandates for the Child Protection System in order to achieve permanency for ChildNet’s clients by:

  • Developing, mentoring, coaching and supervising assigned staff to promote safety, wellbeing and permanency in a safe and expeditious manner in accordance with Florida Statutes, Administrative Code, COA standards, and ChildNet’s policies and procedures.

  • Supporting the Director of Reunification in all aspects of program growth specifically through strategic and operations planning guidance and by ensuring that required infrastructure is in place.

  • Maintaining a liaison with the Department of Children and Families, Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Family Court System, Board of Education, Guardian Ad Litem, Child Protection Team, and community at large to analyze client’s needs, identify problems and evaluate overall performance.

  • Monitoring the quality and productivity of the work performed by the unit personnel. Prepares reports for management as needed.

  • Overseeing case management services, which includes but not limited to permanency planning, case assignment, home studies, timely filing of court reports, staffings, client case files, compliance with documentation and maintenance of SACWIS.

  • Receiving, reviewing and assigning cases according to agency policy and procedure.

  • Overseeing and Conducting quarterly case reviews until case closure. Reviews all children on psychotropic medication monthly.

  • Ensuring effective communication between all of ChildNet staff, children, families and community stakeholders.

  • Maintaining current knowledge of community resources, legislative changes, issues, trends and developments relevant to child welfare practices for application to functional areas under charge to ensure compliance.

  • Providing background information and possible resolutions to inquiries and concerns from clients, the community and other departments.

  • Recognizing, respecting and responding to the unique, culturally-defined needs of others served.

Skills / Requirements

* Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher level in social work or a related field (masters preferred) from an accredited college or university required.

* Must have a current and active Florida Department of Children and Families Child Welfare Certification (CWCM).

* Must have at least two years of experience in human services or child welfare programs, preferably as case manager.

* Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office 365 Suite and strong data entry skills

* Must possess a valid and clean Florida drivers license without any restrictions and/or citations that would affect job performance.

* Must have own reliable transportation and the ability to obtain and show proof of insurance.

* Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends in order to meet with children and families.

* Able and willing to work with a diverse client population.
