ChildNet, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit community-based care (CBC) agency servicing Broward and Palm Beach County. We are contracted with the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families, to provide case management support to abused, abandoned, and neglected children. ChildNet is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and employs over 450 staff at its location in Ft Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Florida. There are current needs for individuals interested in working with the families and children to become Certified Case Managers. ChildNet provides on-site training for qualified individuals to prepare them to obtain their Florida certification as a Child Welfare Case Manager.  Becoming a Child Welfare Case Manager is an opportunity for select individuals to help vulnerable children through family reunification, adoption, or independent living. Case Managers work with parents, children, foster parents, group homes, the Broward Sheriff's Office, the County's Juvenile Justice System, and many support services to meet the goals of ChildNet and the Department of Children and Families.

Job Summary: This position consults with and trains Child Advocate (CA), foster parents and service provider staff assigned to the designated service center, on and about issues, problems, services, policies and procedures to achieve the goal of prevention or to assist in the safe recovery of each child that is either missing or on runaway status

Responsibilities: Accompanies and assists the CA and foster parents as they begin to resolve problems, overcome obstacles and access specific services, e.g., home studies, background checks, visitation.by:

  • Maintaining proficiency in new and pending laws concerning missing and runaway children.
  • Investigating potential leads to determine the whereabouts of child(ren) reported missing, e.g. placement home, school, service provider.
  • Training, advising, supporting and assisting CA’s with documentation and procedures involved in the missing person’s process to finalization, e.g. Judicial Review’s (JR’s), court hearings, case plans.
  • Documenting, recording, and maintaining detailed files on all runaway and missing children’s cases for assigned service center; updates computer systems as needed; monitors ongoing cases, e.g. police reports, missing person’s report, recovered children’s report, status reports.
  • Acting as a liaison with law enforcement agencies, Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), School Board’s, and community provider’s to recover and stabilize children that are missing or on runaway status, e.g., discuss the case with the assigned officer, contacts and visits child’s school.
  • Coordinating the stabilization of child(ren) with appropriate staff to reduce the possibility of future runaways, CA – Independent Living (IL) Specialist’s, Behavior Analyst; verifies that recovered children receive face-to-face visit upon their return.
  • Conducting diligent search’s at various websites; consults with Diligent Search specialist as needed.
  • Attending staffings and case reviews at their assigned service centers as needed; attends DJJ hearings as needed.
  • Recognizing, respecting and responding to the unique, culturally-defined needs of others served.

Skills / Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field  from an accredited college or university.

* Two year (2) of work experience of case management preferred.

* Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office 365 Suite and strong data entry skills

* Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends in order to meet with children and families.

* Able and willing to work with a diverse client population.
